Baseball Recap: Gateway Has No Trouble Against Mckeesport

Gateway never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the McKeesport Tigers as Gateway made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Gators have won four matches by more than 14 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jon Saunders made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Gateway got a massive performance out of Roman Jennings, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those triples were Jennings' first of the season. Ryan Deselich was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Gateway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for McKeesport, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Gateway will have a chance to go back-to-back against McKeesport: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
