Baseball Recap: Myrtle Has No Trouble Against Belmont

Myrtle made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Belmont, but still couldn't quite topple them. The Myrtle Hawks were the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over the Belmont Cardinals on Tuesday. Considering the Hawks have won four matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hunter Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Davis was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Myrtle got a massive performance out of Jaxon Robbins, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. BJ Treadaway was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Myrtle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belmont only posted an OBP of .355.

Myrtle's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Belmont, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-2.

Coming up, Myrtle will be playing in front of their home fans against Strayhorn at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Strayhorn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Belmont, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals take on the Bobcats at 1:30 a.m. on Friday.
