Softball Recap: Minisink Valley Has No Trouble Against Monticello

Minisink Valley won the last time they faced Monticello and things went their way on Monday too. The Warriors put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-1 victory. Considering the Warriors have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Charli Ringus and Emily Smith were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Ringus pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Smith tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ringus has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ringus went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run, while Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Those two hits gave Smith a new career-high.

In other batting news, Keira Filip was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Kiera Barry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Minisink Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Minisink Valley and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Monticello, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Minisink Valley and Monticello will both be playing Goshen Central the next time they take the field. The Warriors will host the Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Panthers will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
