Winning is just a little bit easier when you nail six more threes than your opponent, a fact the Lincoln North Star Navigators proved on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 65-42 margin over Burke. Given Lincoln North Star's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln North Star's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was KG Gatwech, who scored 17 points along with three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Lazerek Houston, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Burke still got an impressive performance from Michael White, who scored 15 points. Arieon Mcclain was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Lincoln North Star and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Burke, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Lincoln North Star and the Spartans will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Burke, they will head out on the road to square off against the Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
