After flying high against the Fort Lauderdale Flying L's back in December of 2023, the Stoneman Douglas Eagles came back down to earth. Stoneman Douglas was dealt a 65-25 defeat at the hands of South Broward on Thursday. Stoneman Douglas has not had much luck with South Broward recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Broward to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fabiana Poindujour, who scored 15 points along with five steals. Poindujour is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Ayonna Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Stoneman Douglas has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for South Broward, their victory was their 12th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Stoneman Douglas won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. As for South Broward, they will be playing at home against Dillard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
