If the North Schuylkill Spartans were riding high off their 69-29 takedown of the Jim Thorpe Olympians last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. North Schuylkill was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 49-48 to Pottsville. North Schuylkill found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 66% worse than the opposition.
North Schuylkill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jack Keiter, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Keiter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Zulkowski, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Kole Becker was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Christian Alvarez, who scored 11 points.
North Schuylkill's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Pottsville, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
North Schuylkill will face off against Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pottsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pine Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
