Mize has gone a perfect 7-0 against Sylva Bay Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Saints at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Mize beats Sylva Bay Academy with 11 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Bulldogs never let Richton get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Holder Mcalpin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Trey Myers was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Walker Sullivan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Mize was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Sylva Bay Academy gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Prentiss Christian 12-6.
Like Mize, Sylva Bay Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Lane Miller. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Miller has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi West, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. He has become a key player for Sylva Bay Academy: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gage Kennedy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Mize's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Sylva Bay Academy, their record now sits at 10-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mize has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sylva Bay Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mize took their victory against Sylva Bay Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
