Clermont Northeastern waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They snuck past the Villa Madonna Vikings with a 44-40 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Rockets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 508th in Ohio, while the Vikings are ranked 105th in Kentucky).

When it comes to explaining why Villa Madonna lost, don't look at Kate Gibbs. Despite the final result, she dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 11 boards, and ten blocks. Another player making a difference was Dahlila Gorman, who posted six points.

Clermont Northeastern now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Villa Madonna, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clermont Northeastern will head out to face off against Georgetown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Villa Madonna, they will head out on the road to take on Williamstown at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
