Meanwhile, Providence-St. Mel's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 77-57 defeat at the hands of IC Catholic Prep. While losing is never fun, Providence-St. Mel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while IC Catholic Prep is ranked 226th).
Providence-St. Mel might have lost, but man, Gerald Davis was a machine: he scored 23 points. It was the first time this season that Davis scored 15 or more points. Robert Hughes Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Uplift has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Providence-St. Mel, they dropped their record down to 4-18 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
