The South Central Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 76-56 walloping at the hands of Seneca East. While losing is never fun, South Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 804th, while the Tigers are ranked 224th).
Gunner Ray and Weston June certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ray scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while June scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points June has scored all season. Bryan Chaffee was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
South Central's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Seneca East, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.
South Central will be playing at home against the Flyers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Seneca East, they will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
