Basketball Game Preview: E.E. Smith Golden Bulls vs. Overhills Jaguars

E.E. Smith has gone 9-1 against Overhills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls will head out on the road to face off against the Overhills Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

E.E. Smith is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since January 14th on Monday. They skirted past Triton 52-49. Given the Golden Bulls' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Hawks are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ka'Lyiah Speller was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of E.E. Smith's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 10-2 (and 4-7 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Amy Boa, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

E.E. Smith smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Overhills waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Eagles 78-39. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 22 points or more this season.

Overhills' win came from a few key players E.E. Smith will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Paris Autry, who had 14 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Frank, who went 5-for-6 en route to 12 points and four steals.

E.E. Smith's record now sits at 14-9. As for Overhills, their record now sits at 17-8.

E.E. Smith came up short against Overhills in their previous matchup on Thursday, falling 52-39. Can E.E. Smith avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
