The Lincoln Prep Lightning had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They came out on top against Desert Christian by a score of 38-29.
When it comes to explaining why Desert Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anika Mulkey. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. Mulkey scored a full 58.6% of Desert Christian's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Addison Jones, who scored three points along with five steals.
Lincoln Prep's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Desert Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Lincoln Prep will finish 2023 at home by hosting Williams at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Williams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday. Desert Christian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Greyhills Academy at 10:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023. Greyhills Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
