On Tuesday, Tri-Village made easy work of Twin Valley South and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by nine runs or more this season.
Elizabeth Poling tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tri-Village got a massive performance out of Emma Greer, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave Greer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Cantrell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Tri-Village kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.
Northwestern hit Springfield with a eight-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats lost 11-1 to the Warriors.
Springfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jazzdyn Frock, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Tri-Village's win was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.7 runs this season. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
Springfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Tri-Village has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game.
