Lakecrest Baptist entered their tilt with Faith Baptist with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Lakecrest Baptist came out on top against Faith Baptist by a score of 54-47 on Tuesday. Given Lakecrest Baptist's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Faith Baptist is ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Faith Baptist players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zech Gartrelle, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Gartrelle's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Silas Mosey, who scored ten points.
Lakecrest Baptist's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Faith Baptist, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakecrest Baptist is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Springfield Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. Springfield Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Faith Baptist, they will head out on the road to face off against Bloomfield Christian School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bloomfield Christian School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
