Softball Recap: Sunset Beats Nelson for Their Third Straight Victory

Sunset entered their tilt with Nelson on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on Nelson with a sharp 14-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Apollos, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Keana Cooper made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jordan Pe?a was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sofia Santana, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Sunset always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nelson only posted an OBP of .304.

Sunset's record is now 9-1. As for Nelson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunset will venture away from home to take on Sherwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nelson, they will head out to face off against Tigard at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
