The Heritage Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Douglas County Huskies at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Heritage came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against Regis Jesuit, falling 83-18. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Raiders are ranked tenth).

Despite the loss, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Addy Buseck posted no points and 13 rebounds. Buseck is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. Lexi Robinson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
Even though they lost, Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Douglas County played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by ThunderRidge and fell 53-12. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Heritage will have to contain Addison Fitzgerald as she made an impact in Douglas County's last game. She scored six points.
Heritage has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. Douglas County dropped their record down to 4-17 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Heritage has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Douglas County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Heritage couldn't quite finish off Douglas County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 54-51. Can Heritage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
