Franklin and Edgewood are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Franklin's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home while Edgewood has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Franklin's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Waynesville as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.

Josie Whitt was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Adrian Allen was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Edgewood didn't have quite enough to beat Valley View on Monday and fell 9-8.
Leigha Combs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). Combs was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Edgewood got a big performance out of Evie Short, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Short also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sam Verhoff, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Franklin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
Franklin suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Edgewood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
