After flying high against the Grant Generals last Tuesday, the Putnam City Pirates came back down to earth. Putnam City had to suffer through a rough 83-39 loss at the hands of Edmond Memorial. Putnam City has struggled against Edmond Memorial recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Edmond Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janiyah Williams led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Avery Hjelmstad was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Putnam City's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Edmond Memorial, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
Putnam City will square off against Bartlesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bartlesville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Edmond Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Owasso at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Edmond Memorial's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
