The Maywood CES Wolfpack's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They lost to West Adams at home by a decisive 66-48 margin. Maywood CES was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Adams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.
Cesar Santiago was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with five steals for West Adams. The match was Santiago 's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Juan Sanchez, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Maywood CES bumped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for West Adams, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maywood CES and Marquez will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Marquez presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Maywood CES in California (Marquez is ranked 388th, while Maywood CES is ranked 1367th). As for West Adams, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manual Arts at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Manual Arts knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully West Adams likes a good challenge.
