The Maloney Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Glastonbury Guardians at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Glastonbury took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Maloney, who comes in off a win.
Maloney took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against South Windsor as they made off with a 17-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Stella Cicero made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Remi Rosado, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Oliviah Garcia-Matyka was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Maloney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Windsor only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, Glastonbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Rocky Hill.
Maddie Scionti made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sylvia Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Maloney pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Glastonbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Glastonbury's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Maloney has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Glastonbury, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Maloney's sizable advantage in that area, the Guardians will need to find a way to close that gap.
Maloney might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Glastonbury when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
