Gloucester County Tech will head out on the road to face off against the Delran Bears at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
Gloucester County Tech came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Steinert, falling 10-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Gloucester County Tech hasn't been shut out since back in March.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Delran ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Cinnaminson with a sharp 9-3 victory. Considering the Bears have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mary Masterson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Delran got a massive performance out of Gemma DeJoseph, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was DeJoseph's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Arianna Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Delran has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Gloucester County Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gloucester County Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Delran struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
