At the plate, North Sanpete saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Williams, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in stolen bases. Another was Preston Madsen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carbon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Grantsville on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Dinos in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won three in a row.
Mike Vigil made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Vigil was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That run marked the first that he scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kanon Childs, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Tyrus Madsen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
North Sanpete is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5.
North Sanpete came out on top in a nail-biter against Carbon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will North Sanpete repeat their success, or does Carbon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
