The Orange Park Raiders have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Beachside on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Orange Park still got an impressive performance from Piera Alexander, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Alexander posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mychaela Parker, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Beachside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madilyn (Madi) Ray, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 blocks. Ray is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played. Morgan Cremen was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists and four steals.
Orange Park's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-5. As for Beachside, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orange Park will take on University Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. University Christian's defense has only allowed 20 points per game this season, so Orange Park's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Beachside, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Creekside at 7:30 p.m.
