Holmes County waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-38 victory over the Poplar Springs Atomics. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-49 back in November.

Poplar Springs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamal Carnley, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Baron Hall, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

Holmes County's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Poplar Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Holmes County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-48 loss against Blountstown on the 10th. As for Poplar Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-43 defeat against Ponce De Leon on the 13th.
