Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Loyd Star Hornets walked away with it. They slipped by Lake 21-20 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for Loyd Star who now have nine in a row.
Loyd Star was led to victory by Omarion Clay and Jordyn Kees. Clay picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Kees rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Loyd Star's win was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.3 points per game. As for Lake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Loyd Star will square off against Collins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Collins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday. Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
