Greenville Christian Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Liberty Christian Academy since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Heat at 4:00 p.m. Greenville Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Greenville Christian Academy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Wilson Christian Academy by a score of 5-0. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Chargers on their field since May 14, 2016.
Mason Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Ethan Hopkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Liberty Christian Academy had just enough and edged out Epiphany 6-5 on Tuesday.
Like Greenville Christian Academy, Liberty Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Braedon Martin. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Martin has become a key player for Liberty Christian Academy: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 2-6 otherwise. Martin was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Houston, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Greenville Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their record is now 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greenville Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Liberty Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Greenville Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Liberty Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
