Albany is a perfect 7-0 against De Anza since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will challenge the Dons at 4:30 p.m. Albany is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Albany was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Patrick-St. Vincent, taking the game 6-3. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won six in a row.
Caroline Snyder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Snyder was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sara Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Albany hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, De Anza fell victim to Pinole Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 11-0. The Dons have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Albany's record is now 10-4. As for De Anza, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
De Anza's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Albany has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for De Anza, though, as they've been averaging 11.9 hits. Given Albany's sizable advantage in that area, the Dons will need to find a way to close that gap.
Albany got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against De Anza by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
