Top honors in the league this week go to
Lumberton, which finished with four wins overall, good for best in the league. The Panthers beat
East Marion 11-7, the Eagles 11-10 and
Mize 12-1.
Taylorsville's pitchers were the toughest in the league on opposing hitters this week, giving up only nine hits. For the entire year, the Tartars have given up only 61 base hits in 12 games.
The Rebels' Stringer is tearing up 2A Region 8 this season as he leads the league in average, hits and RBIs. He has been a tough out all season, and has compiled 27 hits and 23 RBIs while batting .540.
Seven batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Mason Sam Walley, who hit .600 this week (3-for-5).
Coke Conway was an RBI machine on Saturday, as he knocked in five runs during Richton's 19-6 win over
Perry Central. He went 3-for-4 and scored three runs.
Stringer struck out 14 in the Rebels' 7-0 win over
North Forrest on March 19. Over seven innings of work, he gave up two hits and zero runs.
