1A North Central recap September 10, 2013
Trevor Dalton and Logan Tharp provided fans with a highlight when they connected against St. Francis. The connection went for 60 yards, the longest such play in 1A North Central this season.
Wray was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. The Eagles defeated Burlington 19-14 earlier in the week.
Jonas Cure was the best receiver in the league this week as Wray defeated the Cougars. Cure racked up 4 receptions for 71 yards. Kyler Churchwell helped Wray's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 45 yards.
Cole Rouse put up the best numbers in passing as Highland lost to Estes Park. He finished with a total of 15 completions for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rouse's favorite target this week was Drew Bornhoft, who caught 6 passes for 41 yards.
He went 15-35 with 1 interceptions.
Zach Spencer made the biggest impact on defense this week as Levi Kramer's team bested Burlington. The 6-foot-0 junior.
Austin Dinis was the most successful running back in 1A North Central this week. He ran for 150 yards on 22 carries as Wiggins topped Glynn Higgs' team. Corey Ritchey also contributed to the rushing game with 31 yards on the ground.
5-foot-10 quarterback Rouse of the Huskies is the league leader in passing yards this season with 202. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jake Lohr. The Resurrection Christian star has 7 catches for 112 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Resurrection Christian takes on the Tigers. The Cougars are in fifth place, while Wiggins is in first place.
Cornerstone Christian Academy took down Denver Christian 52-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
