Delta (Colo.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 48-20 win over
Montezuma-Cortez (Cortez, Colo.).
The Panthers scored seven points in the first quarter. Delta scored on a touchdown run by
Robert Williams.
DHS was up 14-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Williams in the first quarter.
The Panthers expanded their lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. Delta scored three times in the third, including once on a Williams touchdown run.
Tallon Ralstin made a difference for the Panthers. The senior threw one touchdown and caught one touchdown.
Williams played well for DHS in the victory. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
A 24-14 Delta victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The win was a nice bounce back for Delta, which lost to Glenwood Springs last week, 41-20.
Montezuma-Cortez (1-5) goes up against Eagle Valley in a 3A Western Slope game matchup next week, while Delta (4-2) locks horns with Battle Mountain also in a 3A Western Slope game.
