On Saturday, McEachern was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-44 to Union Grove. While losing is never fun, McEachern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Union Grove is ranked third).
Despite the loss, McEachern still got an impressive performance from Tamia Polk, who scored 9 points. Latamyra Williams was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Union Grove can attribute much of their success to Alexis Parson, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordan Brooks, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
McEachern's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Union Grove, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
McEachern will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pebblebrook at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. As for Union Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jones County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jones County is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
