The Hilliard Red Flashes will face off against the First Coast Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Hilliard made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Providence School, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Red Flashes never let the Stallions get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Monday. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Red Flashes this season.
Not much got past Camdyn Beasley, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Providence School off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peighton Self, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Kierstin Northern was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Self wasn't the only one making solid contact: Hilliard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, First Coast made easy work of Andrew Jackson on Wednesday and carried off a 14-2 win. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Lynneisa Whittington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kyrie Camarce was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Edmonds, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
Hilliard's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12. As for First Coast, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
Hilliard couldn't quite get it done against First Coast in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 12-8. Will the Red Flashes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
