The St. John Woodchucks waltzed into their match Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They strolled past North Border co-op [Walhalla/Pembina] with points to spare, taking the game 61-42.
Alani Morin was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycee Desjarlais, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
St. John has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for North Border co-op [Walhalla/Pembina], they bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John will take on Park River/Fordville-Lankin at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Border co-op [Walhalla/Pembina], they will be playing in front of their home fans against Midway/Minto at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
