On Saturday, the Shiprock Chieftains didn't have quite enough to beat the Bernalillo Spartans and fell 3-2. While the Chieftains didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 26-24 in the first set.

Bernalillo had a senior duo take command as Kaylina Tortalita had 17 digs and Jaelynn Valencia had 12 digs. Those 17 digs set a new season-high mark for Tortalita.
Shiprock's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Bernalillo, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Shiprock wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Aztec on the 15th. Bernalillo has also already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against East Mountain on the 15th.
