The Pawnee Black Bears came tearing into Thursday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 53-52 victory over Pawhuska. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Pawnee also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Despite the loss, Pawhuska still got an impressive performance from Fallon Bowman, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 19 rebounds. That was a full 44.2% of Pawhuska's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Shanell Cochrane, who scored ten points.
Pawnee's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Pawhuska, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pawnee will take on the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pawhuska, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Woodland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Huskies are ranked 129th).
