The Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Freeman Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Willowridge has given up an average of 22.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Fort Bend Willowridge's offense. They lost 15-0 to La Marque on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freeman). Everything went their way against Royal on Tuesday as they made off with a 28-6 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Bella Talbot made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Talbot was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kimber Parker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Linarae Salgado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Freeman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Royal only managed seven.
The win made it two in a row for Freeman and bumps their season record up to 6-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
