The Althoff Catholic Crusaders had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Durand/Pecatonica 41-18. The result was nothing new for Althoff Catholic, who have now won six games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Althoff Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aj Strong led the charge by rushing for 201 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Dierre Hill jr, who rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Cooper Hoffman and Nathan Folk, Durand/Pecatonica certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hoffman rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while Folk picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown. Hoffman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Althoff Catholic's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Durand/Pecatonica, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Althoff Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Tuscola at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tuscola has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 170 points over their last three contests. As for Durand/Pecatonica, they will square off against Oregon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oregon is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
