The Madison Blue Streaks will head out to square off against the Lake Catholic Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Madison was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lakeside on Thursday. The Blue Streaks never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.

Kara Mekulsia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Tori Semple was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Adrianna Mussell was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
Madison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lake Catholic fell victim to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 14-0 to the Lions. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Madison's record is now 11-4. As for Lake Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Lake Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Madison has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Lake Catholic, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Madison's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
Madison took their victory against Lake Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Streaks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
