The Madison-Grant Argylls were the 67-60 winner over the Southwood Knights when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Madison-Grant fell to Southwood 55-50. Madison-Grant has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Madison-Grant's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teagan Yeagy, who scored 12 points along with seven assists. Mavrick Griffin was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Madison-Grant were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwood only racked up eight assists.
Southwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Winer led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maddox Marshall, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Madison-Grant's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Southwood, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison-Grant will take on Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwood, they will head out on the road to take on Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Adams Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
