Basketball Recap: Beardstown Makes It Four in a Row at Home

While Beardstown didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Astoria/VIT Rebels with a sharp 51-26 victory on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kynley Mitchell, who posted five points.

Beardstown's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Astoria/VIT, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Beardstown Tigers take on the Central/Southeastern Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central/Southeastern will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Beardstown surely won't give up without a fight. As for Astoria/VIT, they will take on Illini Bluffs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
