Peoria is 5-0 against Dysart since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Peoria Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Dysart Demons at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Peoria has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Dysart will arrive with four straight wins.
Peoria's 28-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 79-54 walloping at the hands of Regis Jesuit on Friday. Peoria was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-16.
Despite the defeat, Peoria got a solid performance out of Terrell Colenburg, who scored 18 points along with 5 steals. Colenburg continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Desmone Brooks-conley, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Peoria struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Regis Jesuit racked up 18.
Dysart has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Greenway, posting a 60-27 victory at home. Given Dysart's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Greenway is ranked 258th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dysart's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lamar Anderson, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was Anderson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nate Morales, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds.
Paradise Honors' win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Peoria's defeat dropped theirs to 0-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's game: Peoria have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.8 threes per game. It's a different story for Dysart, though, as they've been averaging only 5.1 per game. Given Peoria's sizeable advantage in that area, Dysart will need to find a way to close that gap.
