Baseball Recap: Jackson Wins Going Away Against Eastern

Jackson won the last time they faced Eastern and things went their way on Thursday too. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Quakers. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Malachi McClain made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McClain was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jackson let Eric Lopez and Joey Ortiz run wild. Lopez went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Ortiz went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two doubles gave Lopez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Bush, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Jackson and bumps their season record up to 8-13. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Eastern, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Jackson will take on Northwest at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Eastern, they will square off against Fowlerville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
