If the Notre Dame Catholic Lancers were feeling good off their 40-0 takedown of the Stratford Red Devils last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Notre Dame Catholic took a 23-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pomperaug on Tuesday. Notre Dame Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pomperaug apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Despite the loss, Notre Dame Catholic still got an impressive performance from Antwan Davis, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Davis is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last three games he's played.
Pomperaug was led to victory by Cooper Simmons and Johnny Gogas. Simmons rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, while Gogas rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
Notre Dame Catholic's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Pomperaug, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Notre Dame Catholic is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Oxford at 6:30 p.m. on November 28th. Oxford will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Pomperaug does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
