Basketball Game Preview: St. Andrew's Lions vs. Benedictine Cadets

The St. Andrew's Lions and the Benedictine Cadets will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Andrew's comes in on six and Benedictine on seven.

On Friday, St. Andrew's beat Episcopal School of Jacksonville 63-51.

St. Andrew's can attribute much of their success to Zayden Edwards, who almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine steals, and Ja'Cari Glover, who went 10 of 12 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. Edwards is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Benedictine made easy work of Savannah Christian on Friday and carried off a 53-27 win. The 53-point effort marked the Cadets' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

St. Andrew's better keep an eye on Caleb Jones. He was instrumental in Benedictine's win, going 13 of 24 on his way to 30 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Benedictine's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Williams, who posted four points and seven assists.

St. Andrew's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Benedictine, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. St. Andrew's hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.1 points per game. However, it's not like Benedictine struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64 points.
