The Cotulla Cowboys's eight-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They had just enough and edged Dilley out 54-52. The win was just what Cotulla needed coming off of a 100-57 loss in their prior contest.
Dilley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Benjamin Gonzales, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. Gonzales continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jesse Hernandez, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Cotulla's win bumped their record up to 3-15. As for Dilley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Cotulla will be playing at home against Hondo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hondo is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Dilley, they will head out on the road to take on Crystal City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Crystal City's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Dilley has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
