Kenwood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Rossview Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kenwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, it was close, but Kenwood sidestepped Clarksville for a 46-44 win.
Kenwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Russell, who scored 15 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Russell has scored at least 25% of Kenwood's points. Another player making a difference was Cam?ron Dowell, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals.
Meanwhile, even though Dickson County scored an imposing 80 points on Tuesday, Rossview still came out on top. Rossview took their contest against Dickson County 91-80. Given Rossview's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Dickson County is ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rossview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Hankemeier led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds. The matchup was Hankemeier's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quamond Linsey, who scored 19 points.
Kenwood's win lifted them to 3-3 while Clarksville's loss dropped them down to 2-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kenwood have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rossview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
Kenwood ended up a good deal behind Rossview when the teams last played back in February, losing 71-54. Can Kenwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
