Santa Anna is 0-10 against Menard since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Santa Anna Mountaineers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Menard Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Santa Anna has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Santa Anna scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Paint Rock 64-21 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-9.
Jacob Jimenez was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Wyatt Strickland was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Menard suffered their biggest loss yet this season two weeks ago. They had to suffer through a rough 50-14 loss at the hands of Veribest. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Menard has scored all season.
Santa Anna now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Menard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Santa Anna came up short against Menard in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 46-40. Can Santa Anna avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
