Even though the Hillcrest Patriots scored an imposing 70 points on Saturday, the Hueytown Golden Gophers still came out on top. Hueytown took their match against Hillcrest 77-70. The victory was all the more spectacular given Hueytown's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Hillcrest is ranked 34th).
Braylon Patton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points. The game was his 19th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Trip Harris, who scored 15 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Hueytown and bumps their season record up to 11-9. As for Hillcrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Hueytown will be playing at home against James Clemens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. James Clemens is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Hillcrest, they will square off against American Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully American Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
