There's no place like home for the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 36-25 win over Hollins on Thursday. For Indian Rocks Christian, this counts as revenge for the 47-41 defeat Hollins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2019.
Indian Rocks Christian found their leader in underclassman Malia Stevens, who scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Stevens has scored at least 25% of Indian Rocks Christian's points. Kayleigh Atkinson was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Despite the defeat, Hollins saw an underclassman step up: Summer Morgan scored 11 points. Morgan scored a full 44% of Hollins' points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Indian Rocks Christian now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hollins, they bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Indian Rocks Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Petersburg Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Hollins, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Shorecrest Prep at 11:30 a.m.
