The Franklin Yellowjackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Edison, falling 89-19. While losing is never fun, Franklin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1248th, while Edison is ranked 338th).
Edison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damarcus Cobb Jr led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 assists. That's the first time this season that Cobb Jr posted eight or more assists. David White ll was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Franklin bumped their record down to 1-18 with that loss, which was their 16th straight on the road. As for Edison, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Franklin will head out on the road to square off against Stagg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Edison won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Downey at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Reuben Lewis and Terrell Tek.
